God’s people are AWESOME!

This afternoon the snow is coming down very hard in Staten Island!  As Terry and I sit in the comforts of an office area working to help local pastors and leadership with logistics and administrative support, we are amazed by God’s AWESOME people! Not one person has allowed this weather to diminish their efforts as they race against time to help those impacted last week by Sandy and this week by the impending storm forecast to hit this region. The work goes on….Long time partners and ambassadors of Somebody Cares America, Mark Roye, Mike Lynch and Bob Ball from Blood n’Fire and...

November 6-preparing for the next storm!

November 6- an eventful day!       Today was an eventful day!  Early this morning, ministry partners of Somebody Cares, Mark Roye and Bob Ball found one of the local churches a desperately needed fork-lift that can be used to load and unload the thousands of pounds of resources that are arriving every day!  Since the storm, volunteers have been manually loading and unloading EVERYTHING that has been donated!  Once they saw the need, Mark and Bob kicked into HIGH gear and it was NO time before the forklift showed up!  This is the beauty of the Somebody Cares Net that...

We have arrived in Baltimore!

We have arrived in Baltimore!

Wednesday afternoon, after much preparation we departed from Houston.  What is our final destination? Baltimore? New York? New Jersey? In disasters like Hurricane Sandy the situation is VERY fluid especially for the first few days.  We have learned we have to remain as flexible as the situation is fluid.  The Peace of the Lord is a VALUABLE gift always, but especially so in the midst of crisis. Thanks to your prayers, we have experienced an abundance of HIS peace as we have prepared and especially as we have driven.  We only know we have a place to stay…we just don’t know...

Rise to the Time is deploying in response to Sandy!

Please join us as we pray for the Northeastern states in the USA! As Sandy approaches the eastern seaboard of our country, it is already causing massive flooding and hundreds of thousands have had to evacuate their homes in preparation for Sandy’s arrival. This morning as we participated in the conference call with Doug Stringer and the Global Compassion Response Network of ministry partners we knew we had to go! Multiple Somebody Cares America Chapters, Centers and ministry partners are strategically located in the HEART of the areas affected. Matt Stevens, Somebody Cares Baltimore shared...

Partnering with VRM and Church in the City-Denver

With in just a few days of our arrival, teams of assorted sizes and with different skills began to show up. Our first team was from Victim’s Relief Ministry (known as VRM) and consisted of three chaplains from Texas. Edward Smith asked for our assistance to connect them with ministry opportunities. We weren’t sure exactly where we should start, but as we prayed the Lord began to open the doors for us. Before the team arrived, Terry and I spent some time with Lesley Arnett at the county POD, shared with her the fact that a team of chaplains would be arriving. We also offered to help her...

Our First Full Day in Salyersville

Our First Full Day in Salyersville:   Breakfast was served in the gym of the church where we are staying and while we were there, Terry heard about a meeting that would take place this morning with the city/county Emergency Management officials and felt strongly that he should attend.  So while I continued to set up our home office, he left to attend the meeting. It was a definitely a God Appointment for him!  While he sat quietly in the meeting listening an update by each attendee was given.  Finally, they asked him who he was and once they learned, he had incredible favor with all...
